William Moore, the owner of W.C. Moore Farms near Bethel, said he had $102,000 worth of equipment stolen from him.
On May 5, he reported that a red 1992 Peterbilt truck (value: $20,000), a 1969 Fontaine trailer ($12,000), and a Caterpillar bulldozer ($70,000) were missing.
Investigators said the thief or thieves probably had a buyer in mind.
"If you're buying a $70,000 bulldozer [and] you're probably paying $20,000for it, you know something is up," said Det. Stan Guthrie with the Pitt County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
Moore said he is offering an additional $5,000 in reward money.
